Connecticut can now count itself among the cadre of states offering incentives for the purchase of new plug-in electric cars. And the name of its incentive program gets right to the point: CHEAPR is the suitably appropriate acronym for the Connecticut Hydrogen and Electric Automobile Purchase Rebate pilot program.

Tesla launched a lawsuit against Louisiana automotive dealer groups in the state last year in an attempt to overturn a ban on direct automotive sales not using a dealership. In Connecticut, Tesla partnered with Mohegan Sun , a casino operated by the Mohegan tribal nation, to bypass direct sales bans in the state and establish a showroom.

Tesla has had a permit for a new Service Center from the East Hartford, Connecticut Planning and Zoning Commission revoked after a local dealership voiced concern regarding direct-to-consumer sales laws. The East Hartford PZC voted to approve the Tesla Service Center, which would be located at 300 Connecticut Boulevard, last April.

Various states across the United States offer electric vehicle (EV) purchase incentives to help accelerate the adoption of zero-emission vehicles. New Jersey residents may receive up to $5,000 toward the purchase or lease of a new EV. Qualified applicants could receive up to $2,500 for the purchase or lease of a new EV. .

As of the beginning of August, 22 states had joined the RFP, indicating their intention to purchase CNG vehicles for use in state fleets.
