Project partner Young Brothers operated the generator for 10 months powering refrigerated containers in Honolulu, Hawaii. Although fuel cells have been used in many successful applications, they have not been technically or commercially validated in the port environment. It averaged 29.4 kW (gross).

Proton OnSite has been awarded a purchase order from HydraFLX Systems Ltd to install a hydrogen generator at the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam (JBPHH) facility outside Honolulu, Hawaii. It will be powered by a combination of solar and grid power.

Better Place has started its initial deployment of EV infrastructure in Hawaii, with the launch of a project to incorporate its electric-vehicle infrastructure in Honolulu, in partnership with Kyo-ya Hotels & Resorts’ Sheraton Waikiki Resort and Hawaiian Electric Company. Other charging stations will be at three Hawaiian Electric sites.
