The systems will autonomously charge part of the electric yard tractor fleet of SSA Marine at the International Container Terminal at the Port of Oakland. ROC-1 will work with high power DC charging stations that use a CCS-1 charging connector, offering capability to autonomously charge the vehicles from existing charging supply equipment.

The Clean Vehicle Assistance Program, run by the Oakland-based nonprofit Beneficial State Foundation, was launched with a $5-million CARB grant. Designed for California’s low-income and disadvantaged communities, the program is open to all California residents who meet the income eligibility requirements.

New Flyer is currently delivering 25 Xcelsior CHARGE H2 fuel cell-electric buses to three transit agencies as part of California Climate Investments (CCI). In California alone, New Flyer has sold nearly 80 battery-electric buses, with active programs in Coachella Valley, Los Angeles, Oakland, Orange County, and San Diego.
