The Transportation and Climate Initiative Program (TCI-P) expects to cut greenhouse gas emissions from motor vehicles in the region by an estimated 26% from 2022 to 2032, and generate a total of more than $3 billion dollars over ten years for the participating jurisdictions to invest.

To solve the climate crisis, we need to cut this in half by 2030, and get to zero by 2050. However, there’s a shortage of roboticists tackling climate change, due to a lack of awareness of necessary and urgent applications. Surprisingly, many founders I talked with echoed the shortage of roboticists in climate tech.

Canada’s Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Catherine McKenna, and the Chair of the California Air Resources Board, Mary Nichols, today signed a new cooperation agreement to advance cleaner vehicles and fuels. Canada is currently completing a mid-term review of its light duty vehicle regulations.

A new study led by Colorado State University predicts significant climate benefits stemming from the use of advanced biofuel technologies. The climate benefits of cellulosic biofuels have been challenged based on carbon debt, opportunity costs, and indirect land use change, prompting calls for withdrawing support for research and development.

Addressing climate change requires not only a clean electrical grid, but also a clean fuel to reduce emissions from industrial heat, long-haul heavy transportation, and long-duration energy storage. An H 2 economy already exists, but it involves lots of greenhouse gas emissions. Almost all of it is based on H 2 from methane.
