Two Alstom hydrogen trains enter passenger service in Lower Saxony; 14 more ordered

Alstom held a world premiere event on Sunday celebrating its Coradia iLint hydrogen fuel cell train ( earlier post ) rolling into service in Lower Saxony, Germany. The new trains will be fueled at a mobile hydrogen filling station. From today onwards, two such trains will enter commercial service according to a fixed timetable.

Alstom to build 14 Coradia iLint fuel-cell trains for LNVG

The hydrogen for the trains will be provided by the Linde Group. LNVG will purchase the Coradia iLint trains for its own vehicle pool and will then rent them to a railway operator. Hydrogen and fuel cells are an ideal combination for climate protection as well as for the energy and transport revolution.
