Kiepe Electric has ordered 80 standardized lithium-ion battery systems from Voltabox AG for trolleybuses. Long-term charging and discharging amounts to 50 kW, but can reach up to 80 kW. The high-voltage battery systems of trolleybuses are charged during the normal operation of the vehicle through the catenary wire.

The Swiss company ecovolta is building a fully automated Li-Ion battery pack assembly plant in Schwyz with an annual capacity of 200 MWh. In conjunction with the battery management system (BMS) also developed by ecovolta, the batteries can be discharged without cooling with 8C and charged with 2C.

Toshiba Corporation has received an order to supply a large-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) for a power frequency regulation project in Hamilton, Ohio. Toshiba’s BESS, integrating an array of 6MW-2MWh SCiB lithium-ion batteries, will be delivered in November, and the system is scheduled to start operation in December.
