The first zero-emissions electric school buses in the state of Texas were recently received by Everman Independent School District. Based on data the district has provided, they are looking to save more than $4,000 a year on fuel savings and $2,000 a year on maintenance savings when compared with the diesel buses in their fleet.

The state of Texas is now offering rebates on select electric vehicle (EV) purchases including some Tesla models, as made available through a limited-time grant program. The state is accepting applications for grant rebates until March 22, 2024, according to its website, though only 2,000 grants will be awarded.

With districts able to obtain grant and other financial assistance, locations that we have deployed electric school buses in were the first in their state to have an EV bus in their fleet. Electric buses also have fewer parts to maintain, which helps the district see immediate savings on maintenance costs.

Coulomb Technologies, in partnership with Ford, Chevrolet and smart USA, will provide 4,600 free home and public ChargePoint Networked Charging Stations for electric vehicles throughout the United States through the ChargePoint America program. Second, the regions themselves had to write a letter to support the grant proposal.

The US Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration (FTA) announced $55 million in grant selections through the Low or No Emission (Low-No) Vehicle program, which funds the development of transit buses and infrastructure that use advanced fuel technologies. Fifty-one projects in 39 states will receive a share of the funding.
