With a Renault-designed adapter connected to the vehicle’s charging socket, the future electric Renault 5 can provide the same energy output as a 220-volt power outlet. A smartphone app used to program bidirectional charging, simply by setting the time when the vehicle is going to be used next and the desired battery level.

As part of a research project into e-mobility and Vehicle to Grid (V2G) charging in Slovakia, a Tritium Veefil-RT 50kW DC fast charger has been installed at the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava. All the Veefil-RT chargers are positioned along the Belgium motorway system, linking the country’s major cities.

For continued ease of use and charging flexibility, the 35.5 kWh Lithium-ion battery can be charged using either Type 2 AC connection or a CCS2 DC rapid charger. The positioning of the charging port allows easy access from the front of the car or from either side.
