Tesla is cutting ties with South Windsor, Connecticut, after the town’s Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously rejected the automaker’s proposal to open a showroom in the town. Tesla has had a permit for a new Service Center from the East Hartford, Connecticut Planning and Zoning Commission revoked after a local dealership voiced concern regarding direct-to-consumer sales laws. The East Hartford PZC voted to approve the Tesla Service Center, which would be located at 300 Connecticut Boulevard, last April.

Some of the most significant incentives exist or will exist, in Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Delaware, and Maryland. Connecticut will offer buyers incentives for fully electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, or hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. For a new full EV, buyers are eligible for $2,500 or for PHEVs; $1,000.

Businesses that buy zero-emission vehicles are also now eligible for a tax benefit estimated to be worth around $13,000 in the year they purchase the vehicles. In the 2019 budget, the Government of Canada announced rebates of up to $5,000 for consumers on the purchase of zero-emission vehicles.

As part of a comprehensive reform plan to simplify the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ transportation system, Governor Deval Patrick is proposing a fuel tax increase of $0.19 The increased fuel tax is intended to be in lieu of an increase in tolls. Future increases in the state fuel tax would follow the Consumer Price Index.
