Van Hool, an independent Belgian manufacturer of buses, coaches and industrial vehicles, has shipped the first CX45E, a 100% battery electric coach, to the US. The all-electric CX45E will then be delivered to two North American customers. The CX45E is a fully electric powered coach for the North American market.

Volvo Cars launched the battery-electric Volvo C40 Recharge; based on the CMA vehicle platform it is the first Volvo model designed as pure electric only. Following the introduction of the XC40 Recharge and now the C40 Recharge, Volvo Cars will roll out several additional electric models in coming years.

As part of a field test comprising four comparable vehicles, the first DAF CF Electric 6x2 refuse collection truck has entered operations with Dutch public waste disposal firm ROVA. MAN, a member of the Volkswagen Group, is now selling a battery-electric van, the MAN eTGE. Providing a range of up to 160 kilometers and a payload of 950 to 1,700 kg, the electric MAN eTGE is suited for urban tasks, depending on the type approval (3.5 A 40 kW charging station fills a battery up to 80% in 45 minutes.

The propulsion system consists of twin electric motors, one on the front and one on the rear axle, powered by a 78 kWh battery that can be fast-charged to 80% in about 40 minutes. By 2030, it plans for every car it sells to be pure electric. That means it will continue to improve over time after it has left the factory.

Two electric central motors on the second and third axles give the bus the power it needs for city traffic. In contrast to electric motors positioned close to the wheel hubs, these models are easier to access and have a simpler design. The energy for this comes from the modular batteries with 640 kWh of installed capacity.

Energy storage company Leclanché SA and Škoda Electric, a manufacturer of electric drives and traction motors for trolley and electric buses, have signed a Joint Development Agreement and Framework Purchase Contract through which Leclanché will provide Škoda Electric with battery solutions for its electric bus expansion strategy.
