The final Porsche 918 Spyder plug-in hybrid ( earlier post ) has come off the line in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen according to schedule. The hybrid super sports concept car made its debut at the 2010 Geneva International Motor Show, and was launched on the market as a limited series in late 2013.

Volkswagen unveiled the Golf Sportwagen HyMotion hydrogen fuel cell hybrid research vehicle demonstrator yesterday at the Los Angeles Auto Show ( earlier post ). The fuel cell and battery power an electric motor adapted from the e-Golf. The battery is recharged either through regenerative events or via the hydrogen fuel cell.

In the Netherlands, the Karma ranked second in volume to the Porsche Panamera in the segment for four-door luxury sedans (of all powertrain types) in the January-April, 2012 period. The car allows the driver to manually select all-electric or hybrid-electric drive modes on demand. Demand for the Karma has continued internationally.
