A new study by a team from Aarhus University in Denmark has found that car dealerships pose a significant barrier to electric vehicle adoption at the point of sale due to a perceived lack of business case viability in relation to gasoline and diesel vehicles. Their study is published in the journal Nature. outside of Norway.

And unlike previous recessions, we’re not just dealing with people’s fears or purchase delays. All OEMs discontinued smaller diesel engines which was particularly difficult for the industry as high levels of sales came from diesel—Maruti Suzuki shifted to gasoline and CNG when 20% of their sales previously came from diesel engines.

Audi has opened its e-gas plant in Werlte, making it the first automobile manufacturer to develop a chain of sustainable energy carriers. TFSI in the five-door model can burn natural gas, biomethane and Audi e-gas; with its bivalent design it can also use gasoline. Customers can order a quota of e-gas when they purchase the car.
