Audi partnering with Climeworks on CO2 direct air capture and storage

Audi is partnering with the Zurich-based environmental start-up and promoting a future technology with the project. Switzerland-based Climeworks, a spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH), recently launched the world’s first commercial plant that captures atmospheric CO 2 for supply and sale to a customer. Climeworks aims to capture 1% of global CO 2 emissions by 2025.

In an event in Bern, Switzerland, Swiss National Council member and president of the Clean Fuel Now initiative Thomas Böhni filled up his Audi A2 with 100% synthetic diesel (Audi e-diesel) produced by sunfire GmbH to draw attention to the need to remove what he terms unjustified Swiss restrictions on synthetic fuels.
