Ford announced a series of initiatives for sourcing battery capacity and raw materials that light a clear path to reach its targeted annual run rate of 600,000 electric vehicles by late 2023 and more than 2 million by the end of 2026. Ford announced that Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., 150,000 F-150 Lightnings for North America.

Ford is investing US$1.6 billion in a new small car plant in Mexico, building a new manufacturing site in San Luis Potosi State. This investment comes during Ford’s 91 st year in Mexico, including manufacturing vehicles since 1925. The investment is part of the company’s One Ford global product and manufacturing plan.

South Korea-based SK On (SKO), a global EV battery manufacturer, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Australia’s Global Lithium Resources to explore future business opportunities together in regard to stable supply of lithium. Incorporated in 2018, Global Lithium was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange last year.
