Registration of model year 2016 plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) in New Jersey was up 79% over 2015, according to a recent analysis by ChargEVC , a diverse coalition of organizations and companies that support growth of the electric vehicle market. Interest in these cars is growing.

BYD delivered the first all-electric automated side loader refuse truck to the City of Palo Alto and GreenWaste, the city’s waste hauler service. The BYD electric refuse truck uses its batteries for propulsion, as well as to power the hydraulic system for the body.

Electrify America and the City of Sacramento announced new projects that will increase access to zero-emissions vehicles (ZEV) in the Sacramento region, expand ZEV technology use, and prepare the City for future electric vehicle adoption. The enhanced route will start in 12 to 18 months once the electric bus manufacturer begins deliveries.

The Cap-and-Trade auction proceeds provide funding for ARB’s advanced technology, clean transportation incentive programs to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, expanding the types of projects ARB has funded in the past through AQIP. An income cap will be instituted to exclude higher income consumers at the same time.

Annual worldwide NEV sales by region, 2011–2017. The total number of neighborhood electric vehicles (NEVs)—low-speed street-legal electric vehicles—on the world’s roadways will grow from 479,000 in 2011 to 695,000 by 2017, a 45% increase, according to a new forecast by Pike Research.
