The Nikkei reports that Suzuki Motor Corp. will begin selling a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle as early as 2013. The concept Swift plug-in is powered by a 55 kW, 180 N·m AC synchronous motor and a 2.66 It will also use a gasoline engine to generate electricity. At the Tokyo Motor Show next week, Suzuki will show three concept cars: an all-new Alto Concept for the minivehicle segment; a new Swift Plug-in Hybrid concept; and the SX4-FCV fuel cell vehicle, shown earlier in 2008. By brand, these cars represented an important part of the volume registered by Smart (96%), Lexus and Toyota (95% and 66% respectively), DS (42%), Suzuki (41%) and Land Rover (37%).
