Scania has launched a large-scale renewable diesel (HVO) pilot for employees based in Södertälje, Sweden, enabling them to fuel their cars with renewable diesel. In Sweden, HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil) is mainly produced by rape seed oil and waste from the food industry.

Toyota’s toughest, body-on-frame models in Europe are to be made compatible with HVO100 diesel, a non-fossil fuel made from 100% renewable sources such as waste cooking oil. HVO100 (hydrated vegetable oil) meets the EN 15940 European quality standard for paraffinic diesel.

Neste Oil is beginning the commercial use of tall oil pitch as a feedstock for refining into transportation fuel. Hamburg airport in Germany has started using Neste’s renewable diesel as a solution to reduce its reliance on fossil fuels. The fuel had a very good engine start performance in addition to which the vehicles did not need as frequent maintenance work due to less soot and less oil dilution.
