Nissan and Waseda University testing jointly developed recycling process for electrified vehicle motors

Nissan Motor Co., and Waseda University have started testing in Japan of a jointly developed recycling process that efficiently recovers high-purity rare-earth compounds from electrified vehicle motor magnets. In March 2020 the collaboration successfully developed a pyrometallurgy process that does not require motor disassembly.

QM Power and University of Kentucky demonstrate 50 kW/liter electric motor; DOE 2025 power density goal

Universal Hydrogen successfully completes first flight of hydrogen fuel cell powered regional airliner

Universal Hydrogen has flown a 40-passenger regional airliner using hydrogen fuel cell propulsion. In this first test flight, one of the airplane’s turbine engines was replaced with Universal Hydrogen’s fuel cell-electric, megawatt-class powertrain. The other remained a conventional engine for safety of flight.

Aisin developing ultrahigh-efficiency EV motor with Tohoku Magnet Institute

Aisin Corporation is developing an ultrahigh-efficiency motor using NANOMET jointly with Tohoku Magnet Institute (TMI), in which Aisin invested in June last year. It is sold exclusively by TMI, a spin-out from Tohoku University. A prototype was exhibited at the Automotive Engineering Exposition 2023, in Yokohama in May.
