Maryland offers a tax credit of $125 for each kilowatthour of battery capacity of an EV, up to $3,000. For instance, DTE Energy in Michigan offers customers discounted electricity rates at off-peak hours if they install a 240-volt Level 2 charger. The ratepayer must also install a separate meter dedicated to the PEV.

The old way to track charging was to install sophisticated software in Level 2 (240-volt) chargers that asks drivers for permission to monitor their charging behavior, while providing some kind of rebate or deal for doing so. As I don’t live in Maryland or own a Tesla, I couldn’t register my car, but you can see it’s quite easy.
