In other words, if for some reason the idea of a PHEV Wrangler bothers you, relax. So while other SUVs might get dinged for these things, we chalk it up to part of the experience. But if you have the scratch and the access to juice, it makes a strong argument for itself. Yes, you get a plug-in hybrid setup.

I thought maybe we would get one or two “headline neat features,” and the rest would give way to being just a normal well-made SUV. I’m a small-car guy (and you should be too ), so the surprise small-SUV-crossover-rally-car-hatchback-or-whatever-you-wanna-call-it R3 was extremely exciting to me.

Nowhere does Europcar mention a Seres 3 electric SUV. I note my booking said: Hyundai Kona Electric or similar compact SUV. I charge here for two hours – on my own, in a lonely car park – so I have enough juice to get back to the other town and try DC charging. Which is the car we got. It’s criminal.
