The plug-in Priuses are almost doubling the fuel efficiency of Google standard Prius fleet, getting 74 MPG rather than 41 MPG. That's great, but because most driving down Silicon Valley way is on the freeway for rather short distances, the plug-ins don’t do much all-electric driving and the MPG isn't approaching the much touted 100MPG.

You would be much better served doing a little investigative journalism (no offense intended) to determine the percentage of cars sold that get 30 mpg or better. you see that?

In California, 20% of our electricity comes from zero CO2 renewables (sun, wind, geothermal), another 20% from zero CO2 hydro, and only 20.1% As more renewables come online, battery electrics just keep getting cleaner and greener. So, Nimrod, didnt you realize that FCVs would cause CO2 emissions as well?

My Honda Civic averages 34+ MPG over a year period. The only other similar alternative is hydrogen and the economics on those cars are even worst so far. It’s all too easy… and about 1/1,000,000 th the effort of installing a hydrogen infrastructure from scratch! With a 55KWH battery, range is only 157 miles.
