Honolulu, with 26 quick chargers, has one of densest charging grids in the US. Illinois provides a $4,000 state tax incentive for purchases and reduced registration fees. Washington D.C.

Electric school buses equipped with vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology also have tremendous potential as “batteries on wheels” that can store electricity and provide it to the grid or to buildings when needed. Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Washington, and Vermont are adopting the same rules.

In 2005, the federal government created the Alternative Fuel Infrastructure tax credit for homeowners and business owners, which includes the installation of EV charging infrastructure per WattLogic. For simple installations, this tax credit will cover the entire cost of the project.

Chevrolet announced a low-mileage lease on the new 2014 Spark EV 1LT ( earlier post ) for as low as $199 per month for 36 months, with $999 due at lease signing including security deposit (tax, title, license dealer fees extra), making the vehicle one of the most affordable EVs on the market. A mileage charge of $.25/mile
