Trucks are increasingly a major contributor to air pollution nationwide, but especially in our cities where they are among the largest sources of toxic emissions in vulnerable neighborhoods. Companies with large fleets, including Pepsico and FedEx, are partners in these initiatives, along with a broad range of other technology partners.

Grants from the LoNo program help transit agencies integrate more of these advanced buses into their fleets. Sunline Transit Agency, in partnership with the Southern California Association of Governments, will receive funding to build and deploy five hydrogen electric hybrid fuel cell buses. The selected projects are: NoLo Awards.

Over the long run, the ZEV program will transition into the LEV program GHG fleet average. Thus, the mechanism for achieving the 2050 GHG target is, in reality, the fleet average not ZEV production volume. Work should continue on a variety of approaches to ensure the systematic deployment of hydrogen infrastructure.

The project will deploy 502 alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles through 119 public and private fleets throughout the state. Clean Energy Coalition’s CEC Michigan Green Fleets Initiative. Fleets include transportation authorities, cities, school districts, the University of Michigan, FedEx, and Meijer.
