Overview of the plug-in hybrid system for the F-150. has launched a new line of hybrid vehicles—converted plug-in hybrid versions of the Ford F-150 pickup, the highest volume selling vehicle in the US. The conversions are based on the F-150 4 X 4 Extended Cab with 145” W.B. 100 kW power inverter.

Chinese researchers develop novel aluminum–graphite dual-ion battery

The new aluminum-graphite dual-ion battery (AGDIB) offers significantly reduced weight, volume, and fabrication cost, as well as higher energy density, in comparison with conventional LIBs. Update on ALTe; EREV powertrain company tracking for production-caliber units by December, production ramp in 1Q 2013

The first wave of F-150 production-ready prototype extended range electric vehicles is soon due to be delivered to Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) to kick-off a pilot study in the PG&E fleet. Specs for the powertrain in the F-150 include a 2.0L, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated gasoline engine powering an 82 kW (peak) Remy DC generator.
