ETH team synthesizes tin nanocrystals for high-performance Li-ion anodes

Researchers from ETH Zürich have synthesized highly monodisperse colloidal Sn and Sn/SnO 2 (tin/tin dioxide) nanocrystals for use as an anode material in Li-ion batteries. Testing showed that 10 nm Sn/SnO 2 nanocrystals enable high cycling stability, in contrast to commercial 100–150 nm powders of Sn and SnO 2.
