Tesla had the lowest tailpipe CO2 emissions for 2021, a new report published by the U.S. The EPA released its annual Automotive Trends report, and findings reveal that Tesla is leading the way with the lowest tailpipe CO2 emissions and the highest fuel economy of all large manufacturers.

EPA released the latest edition of its annual report on trends in CO 2 emissions, fuel economy and powertrain technology for new personal vehicles in the US. Fuel economy has now increased in eight of the last nine years; average carbon dioxide emissions are also at a record low of 369 g/mile in model year 2013.

During the General Motors (GM) 2023 earnings call held this week, CEO Mary Barra said the company will be bringing plugin hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) to North America—despite still being committed to going all-electric by 2035. Previously, GM also sold the Chevy Volt PHEV from 2010 to 2019, as well as the Cadillac ELR from 2014 to 2016.
