(MPC) and ADM announced an agreement to form a joint venture for the production of soybean oil to supply rapidly growing demand for renewable diesel fuel. When complete in 2023, the Spiritwood facility will source and process local soybeans and supply the resulting soybean oil exclusively to MPC.

The North Dakota Industrial Commission has awarded Tesoro $500,000 to support a $3.5-million million project to study enabling the company’s Dickinson, ND refinery to co-process renewable feedstocks such as vegetable oils such as soy or distillers corn oil into renewable diesel (RD). Marathon Petroleum Corporation selected Topsoe as the technology provider for renewable fuels production at the Martinez Renewable Fuels Facility in California. The facility, part of Marathon’s 50/50 joint venture with Neste, utilizes Topsoe’s HydroFlex technology to convert bio-feedstock into renewable diesel.

ADM plans to build North Dakota’s first dedicated soybean crushing plant and refinery to meet fast-growing demand from food, feed, industrial and biofuel customers, including producers of renewable diesel. —North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum. Shale oil production generates greenhouse gas emissions at levels similar to conventional crude oil production, according to a pair of new studies released by the US Department of Energy’s Argonne National Laboratory. These are shale formations with low permeability and must be hydraulically fractured to produce oil and gas.

(APG) has signed a license agreement with Trident Resources, LLC for the exclusive worldwide right to commercialize Trident’s proprietary Natural Gas Liquid (NGL) process technology. The new NGL process will be able to produce a premium quality natural gas capable of being used for both stationary and vehicular APG dual fuel applications.
