We were on location for the debut of the new Maserati convertible, which features three all-electric motors and impressive performance specs. kWh battery pack (83 kWh usable) that can reach charge rates up to 270 kW on a DC fast charger, recouping 100km (62 miles) in 5 minutes and replenishing from a 20-80% state of charge in 18 minutes.

The front electric-drive module -- yes we know this sounds like a fancy way of saying "electric motor" -- makes 250 kilowatts and the rear 238. A 92-kilowatt-hour battery and a 130-kilowatt generator combine to bring the juice. Ram says customers can gain 50 miles of range in 10 minutes via 400-volt DC fast charging at up to 145 kW.

Hyundai calls this new design language “Parametric Pixel,” including pixelated LED lighting that nods to old 8-bit video games. That lets the Hyundai and Kia slurp electrons at up to a 270-kilowatt rate, when plugged into a 350-kW DC charger. For my own recent test, a mere 150-kW EA charger at a Target in New Jersey had to suffice.

And, like in electric cars, an electric motor has high torque at zero rpm, which means it has… A LOT OF GET-UP-AND-GO. Arc used a low (2,000) rpm semi truck motor with direct drive (no gearbox) to reduce noise and friction and ensure high torque, which means we literally fell right out of our damn seat the first time they punched it.

We visit him at the Kia dealership for his fist service and also go on a drive and check out the ADAS features, observe some interesting sensor alerts and enjoy the insane torque that the dual motors provide! We drove the car at night – and found the lights to be very good. kWh of juice. 0 to 100 kmph time is 4 seconds.
