With a new design and built on a new platform, the 2023 Honda HR-V continues to be a good value with a roomy interior and 30+ mpg. Running on 87 octane, the EPA rates the HR-V AWD at 25 mpg city/30 highway/27 combined. Because of this we don’t address issues such as long-term reliability or total cost of ownership.
The EPA estimates the G80’s fuel economy to be 17 mpg city/26 highway/20 combined. If fuel economy is a pacing item, then getting 32 mpg with the smaller displacement probably is worth foregoing the performance benefits of the larger engine. For better economy, the 2.5L engine with 300 hp and 311 lb.-ft. Both run on 91 octane.
Fuel economy for the 2025 Camry is rated at 48 mpg city/47 highway/47 combined. mpg, which reflects not spending much time in-town driving. All Camrys are now powered by the efficient Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive system where, with careful driving, 50+ mpg is very doable.
