Turkey has begun work on Canal Istanbul , a $15-billion canal project intended to relieve pressure on the Bosphorus Strait, with the ground-breaking for the first bridge. Both waterways are located in Turkey and supply Western and Southern Europe with oil from Russia and the Caspian Sea region.

Siro , a joint venture between Farasis Energy and Turkish global mobility technology brand Togg ( earlier post ), has started production at the new Gemlik site in Turkey on 31 March. Siro will supply Togg, customers of Farasis Energy Europe as well as its own customers in automotive, industrial applications and stationary storage solutions.

Leclanché will supply a state-of-the-art GNMC battery system (65 Ah cells) with a capacity of 10,028 kWh with a maximum voltage of 864 volts guaranteed for 10 years. The ferry was designed by LMG Marin AS, Norway, and will be constructed at Cemre Shipyard in Turkey.

The Strait is located between Oman and Iran, and connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea. Additional oil could also be pumped north via the Iraq-Turkey pipeline to the port of Ceyhan on the Mediterranean Sea, but volumes have been limited by the closure of the Strategic pipeline linking north and south Iraq.
