The company has been building the second of several planned Starship launch sites for more than three years. Ironically, work on that pad began before the company started building the pad that will actually support Starship’s first orbital launch attempts. SpaceX broke ground on Starship’s first Florida OLS in late 2019.

Once Super Heavies are eventually outfitted with a full 32 Raptors, more engines than any other rocket in history, the booster will also produce more than twice the thrust of NASA’s Saturn V Moon rocket – still the most powerful vehicle ever flown. They could: Offer an electric version of an existing vehicle Give an electric model a new or additional identity Introduce a new electric model Create a new electric sub-brand Start a new electric car company.

The company almost always preferred to build, test, and learn from minimum-viable-product prototypes as quickly as possible, even if that meant that failures were guaranteed. The next heaviest rockets ever built, Saturn V and N-1 , weighed around 2800 tons (~6.2M lbs) fully loaded. Starship is FULLY fueled for the first time!

The keys will likely be handed to me (and EV1 co-veteran Linda Nicholes) by Bob Sexton, the very mechanic who rotated the tires of our EV1s at Saturn Marina del Rey back in 1998. A day when Tesla too has challenges, but a car in-hand.
