Xcel Energy has launched a new pilot for customers of five major automakers to make it easier for consumers to make the switch to electric vehicles in Colorado and to charge their EVs at times when renewable energy production is high and demand on the energy grid is low. The pilot program will include up to 600 EV customers in Colorado.

These funds are critical to support installation of compressed natural gas fueling stations along the state’s major transportation corridors.

Lightning eMotors, a provider of specialty commercial electric vehicles for fleets, and ABB announced a partnership to offer DC fast electric vehicle chargers for commercial electric fleet vehicles. The high-output 20 kW to 350 kW DC fast chargers will be available via Lightning Energy, a division of Colorado-based Lightning eMotors.

Colorado State University will retrofit two internal delivery trucks with fuel-efficient hydraulic hybrid systems, paid for by a grant from the Colorado Energy Office. Colorado State has selected Lightning Hybrids LLC ( earlier post ) to provide the systems.

In 2021, Colorado's Lightning eMotors is introducing a new Generation 4 model of its popular Lightning Electric Transit Van. Assembled electric powertrains ready for installation into Lightning Electric Transit 350HD vehicles. The Class 3 van supports wheelchair lifts, custom floor rails, and custom bus doors.
