Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal and Juniper GTL LLC President Vianney Valès announced the company will invest $100 million to renovate a dormant steam methane reformer in the Westlake, Louisiana area and convert it to a natural gas-to-liquids (GTL) facility, producing waxes, drilling fluids, diesel and naphtha.

LanzaTech, a producer of low-carbon fuels and chemicals from waste gases, was awarded a $4-million grant by the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) as one of the 15 REMOTE projects ( earlier post ) receiving a combined $34 million to find advanced biocatalyst technologies that can convert natural gas to liquid fuel for transportation.

Located near Alexandria, Louisiana, Sundrop Fuels plans to break ground late this year on its inaugural commercial plant, which will produce up to 50 million gallons of renewable gasoline annually. water is then converted to light olefins (C 2 -C 4 ). The shape-selective catalyst limits the synthesis reactions to 10 carbons.

The fleet consists of liquefied natural gas and compressed natural gas tractors serving more than 40 customer operations in California, New York, Texas, Arizona, Michigan, Utah, Georgia, and Louisiana. The CNG trucks range in gross vehicle weight from 16,000 to 33,000 pounds and are ideal for metro/city delivery applications.
