One vehicle axle (rear) is powered conventionally, the second (front) by two water-cooled 75 kW motors with integrated power electronics. On the Audi R18 e-tron quattro, kinetic energy is recovered on the front axle during the braking phase. In the process, the wheels drive the MGU.

In combination with a lighter body enabled by the partial adoption of carbon fiber construction, the new buses will be able to operate continuously over increased distances—up to 80 kilometers (50 miles) on a full charge, at a top speed of 85 km/h (53 mph). Load capacity is 72 passengers.

Quimera and Altran, its global technological partner of Quimera, will present the “All Electric GT” AEG prototype at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Featuring three UQM motors developing a combined 700 bhp (522 kW), the AEGT has a top speed currently limited to 300 km/h (186 mph). Shakedown was 26 July at the Motorland F1 race track.

At the opening of Auto Guangzhou 2012, Shanghai General Motors launched its first localized new energy vehicle, the Sail SPRINGO EV.
