IDTechEx’s latest master electric vehicle report “ Electric Vehicles: Land, Sea & Air 2022-2042 ” finds 35.7 million electric vehicles (EV) were sold in 2021 and predicts this will rise to more than 74 million by 2030. Often, two-wheelers are the low-hanging fruit when it comes to electrification.

If all of this wasn’t enough, Dodge is equipping the Charger Daytona SRT with something called a Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust system where an amplifier and speaker, located in the rear end, produces a 126 dB roar that mimics the Dodge SRT Hellcat. There is a similar boost feature on the Kia EV6 that we have tried and it is a blast!

The three electric motors are powered by a lithium-ion high specific power (4500 W/kg) battery pack that also supports a fully-electric drive mode. As well as a monocoque made entirely of multi-technology carbon fiber, it features a front structure in Forged Composites; a special material made of short carbon fibers soaked in resin.

Powered by a 2.4L 4-cylinder, it turns 0-60 mph times of 6.1 seconds with the 6-speed manual or 6.6 seconds with the 6-speed automatic transmission.

If you order the performance exhaust or go for the Z51 package, those numbers go up to 495 and 470. With a twist of a couple latches off comes the removable carbon fiber roof, letting in the open air. The LED tail lights sit wide above the two sets of dual chrome exhaust tips, making for an almost menacing look.

Our Genesis G70 interior in Seville Red with quilting on the seats and door panels was joined by black soft touch materials, perforated leatherette door inserts and patterned aluminum trim that was a nice respite from carbon fiber.
