California is home to almost half of all of the nation’s PEVs, but even in California, only about 5 out of every 1,000 registered vehicles are PEVs, according to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA). Examples of incentives include the following: California offers rebates of up to $2,500 for EVs and $1,500 for PHEVs.

Designed to promote the use of Zero Emissions Vehicles (ZEV) and related clean vehicle technologies, the CVRP is a consumer incentive made available in addition to a $2,500 Federal Tax credit. The 2012 Prius Plug-in also offers consumers eligibility for the State of California’s HOV lane sticker.

While the Colorado standard falls short of requiring 100 percent of new car sales to be electric by 2035, as adopted in California , Maryland and a number of other U.S. Instead of prohibiting gas car sales, the state says it hopes to direct consumers toward some of its grants and other programs making EVs easier to access.

As of June 15, 2022, Ford will no longer offer the opportunity to purchase its three all-electric vehicles, the F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E, and E-Transit Van, for new leases. Ford informed dealers in a letter that it was discontinuing the end-of-lease purchase option for the E-Transit van, Mustang Mach-E, and F-150 Lightning.
