When Amazon Web Services paid US $650 million in March for another data center to add to its armada, the tech giant thought it was buying a steady supply of nuclear energy to power it, too. The Susquehanna Steam Electric Station outside of Berick, Pennsylvania, which generates 2.5 Susquehanna agreed to sell it.

After numerous awards and accolades, it seems fair to say that the best luxury car is an electric car. The electric Infiniti has been “postponed,” and BMW is entering the market with a car that doesn’t challenge Tesla. Providing a conventional 120V outlet is cheap and familiar. Neither scenario encourages co-workers to buy PEVs.

Late last year, Volvo launched its very first all-electric model in North America. It’s called the XC40 Recharge, and the earliest versions aren’t cheap, priced from about $55,000 including delivery. That’s partly due to the weight; the electric XC40 is a whopping 900 pounds heavier than the AWD gasoline version.

Free Juice Bar, as the name implies, dispenses electricity to cars without networks to join, credit cards to wave, or phone calls to release the precious, if not dear, electrons. And probably not cheap. Good for them. The units I found quite accidentally are Free Juice Bar dual-connector units.

Coming on the heels of the Google/Brookings event in Washington, D.C., All the wind farms and solar panels in the world won’t do anything to lower the outflow of hundreds billions of dollars annually or decrease our pump-fueled funding of Islamic fundamentalism unless we build cars that can use that cleaner electricity.

What excites me is the idea of cheap and accessible hardware! The electric motors with the battery support could make a very good tool for academic research. Roboticist, Google Brain. Polestar and BYD were two of the new EV brands that arrived during the year and brands as diverse as Volkswagen and GWM confirmed their intention to start selling electric vehicles here in 2023. It was also a year of EV milestones.
