The National Alliance for Advanced Transportation Batteries (NAATBatt) ( earlier post ) has selected a site in Hardin County, Kentucky to build a more than $600-million automotive lithium-ion battery plant. The alliance is modeled after Sematech, which was formed by US computer-chip companies in 1987 to compete with the Japanese.
