I have never run out of juice. I tried to build the car in such a way that every component was easily accessible and visible. The car can recharge on a 220v outlet, but I have never done that yet, since I don''t have that type of outlet in my garage. But I have been very happy with charging on a standard 110v.

Since Compact Power is based in Detroit, and GM is their first big customer, maybe that’s enough of a reason to build at least a token factory in the U.S. From what I’m reading, there’s a lot of battery production coming on line in the next 12 months in Asia and Europe. Sure wish we’d start making some here.

The three leading new options to re-supply our autos with energy are charging at home, battery swap stations and fast charge stations. The method that should seem most natural is charging at home. If cost is an important consideration, than charging your EV at home is a no-brainer as it cuts out any profit-hungry middlemen.

The new plug-in vehicle will be able to exceed highway speed limits, go 100 miles on a charge and recharge in four to eight hours using a 220-volt line, similar to those for clothes dryers, said Mark Perry, director of product planning for Nissan North America. Nissan plans to roll out the car in 12 to 15 markets next year, Perry said.

One wonders if the recent headway at MIT in building lithium ion cells using ?virus? The car is expected to cost around $40,000. Thats right.
