Reports are emerging that Tesla has now started deliveries of the Model Y Standard Range Dual Motor AWD, a variant of its all-electric crossover that was sighted during the Cyber Rodeo at Gigafactory Texas last week. The vehicle is reportedly only available for Tesla employees for now, but this might change within the following weeks.

Vehicles approved by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) can be found by going to the fuel-economy offshoot of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) website. Interestingly, only General Motors and Tesla managed to hit those caps and they’re some of the biggest winners under the new scheme as well.

Range is estimated to be around 300 miles until the EPA says otherwise. Even if we just stick with EVs, the Ford Mach-E and Tesla Model Y both offer more room for cargo and they’re a few inches shorter than the Cadillac. Features are a bit of a mystery, as Cadillac hasn’t outlined the full range of options available on the Optiq.

Darryl Siry blogs over at Wired's Autopia. He's pretty plugged in, having worked at Tesla and consulted for CODA. Until we get final specs on weight, and drive the car around a bit, we won't know to what extent people will need to handicap official range numbers as they do EPA gasoline mileage ratings.
