Valmet Automotive has started the series production of battery systems in Kirchardt, the Finnish company’s first battery plant in Germany. The plant near Heilbronn manufactures high-voltage systems for electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids. the battery modules for the Kirchardt production are produced in Uusikaupunki.

For the first time, the hybrids counted for less than half of total EV registrations. This is a market share of 13.3% compared to just 7.1% in the year prior.
