Daimler is entering the commercial and residential stationary energy storage system (ESS) market with its wholly-owned subsidiary Deutsche ACCUmotive. Daimler’s first industrial-scale lithium-ion unit is already on the grid and is being operated by the partner companies The Mobility House AG and GETEC Energie AG.

Australian renewable energy Edify Energy has formally announced that its high-profile 150MW / 300MWh battery storage system has completed its financing. The project will be using Tesla Megapack batteries, and it will be located in New South Wales (NSW). The largest of its kind approved in the world.

Following last night’s unveiling of Tesla Motors’ new lineup of stationary energy storage systems ( earlier post ), more early partners and pilots are emerging. The Tesla batteries will be charged daily from the existing PG&E electricity grid system during off-peak hours, when electricity rates are lowest.
