Audi sales in China rose 10.3% year-on-year in August; global sales up 5.0%

Following growth in June and July, Audi AG increased its global sales year-on-year in August as well. Last month, Audi sales increased in all three of its top markets: the US (+2.8%), Germany (+6.7%), and, most notably, in China (+10.3%) with 54,205 Chinese customers. Audi has handed over 360,225 automobiles in China since January.

Lamborghini confirms SUV, launch in 2018

Lamborghini, a Volkswagen Group company, confirmed that a luxury SUV will join its product range as its third series model, with market introduction planned for 2018. JATO Dynamics: 17% of new passenger car registrations in Europe in April were electrified

Combined registrations in Italy, the UK, Spain and France tumbled from 646,000 units in April 2019 to 34,000 one year later. Registrations of SUV in April totalled 109,500 units, 78% less than April 2019. In contrast, the bigger and more expensive SUVs posted more moderate declines. EVs: the new safe haven.

Tesla Model 3 Europe’s best-selling pure EV in February in its first full month on the market

The Tesla Model 3 also achieved another record in February, as it became the top-selling premium midsize sedan in Europe—outperforming the popular Mercedes C-Class, Audi A4 and BMW 3-Series. This was due to an 8% increase in registrations in Germany, which helped to offset double-digit falls in Italy, France, Spain and the UK.

Among the big markets, electrified vehicles counted for almost 19% in France, 14% in the UK, 12% in Spain, 10% in Germany and 8% in Italy. Meanwhile, despite a slight decrease in total registrations SUVs did manage to increase market share due to the drop in overall vehicle sales in January. SUVs continue to gain traction.

XPeng (XPEV) launches two EVs in Germany with plans to enter more EU nations later this year

As an encore, XPeng also shared plans to send its G9 SUV overseas. By entering Germany to compete against the likes of BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and Volkswagen, XPeng hopes to make an impact in the market. Beyond Germany, XPeng said it will soon begin selling its EVs in France, Italy, and the UK.
