ZeroAvia announced a development collaboration with Alaska Air Group, the parent company of Alaska Airlines, for a hydrogen-electric powertrain capable of flying 76-seat regional aircraft in excess of 500 NM. capable of transporting 76 passengers. ZeroAvia will set up a location in the Seattle area to support this initiative.

Universal Hydrogen ( earlier post ) has signed LOIs with Icelandair Group (Iceland), Air Nostrum (Spain), and Ravn Air (Alaska) for aftermarket conversion of aircraft to hydrogen propulsion and for the supply of green hydrogen fuel using Universal Hydrogen’s modular capsules. As it moves closer to commercialization of its hydrogen-electric technology, ZeroAvia ( earlier post ) has secured a new raise of $35 million to help develop its 2-5MW zero-emission powertrain system for regional aviation. ZeroAvia is on track to achieve commercialization for its hydrogen propulsion technology in 2024.

ZeroAvia has expanded its agreement with MHI RJ Aviation Group (MHIRJ), a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries ( earlier post ). The agreement is the first for MHIRJ’s Aerospace Engineering Center (AEC) in the hydrogen propulsion field.
