President Biden called on Congress to suspend the federal gas tax for the next 90 days, through the busy summer driving season—18 cents per gallon for gasoline and 24 cents per gallon for diesel. He also called on states to suspend their state gas taxes as well or to find other ways to deliver some relief.

From 1 July 2015, the carbon price will be set by the market. Gillard said that by 2020, this would cut emissions by some 160 million tonnes per year. During the flexible price period, an overall cap will be placed on Australia’s annual greenhouse gas emissions from all sources of pollution covered by the carbon price.
