Electrify America, Sacramento announce Green City investments: ZEV car-sharing, ZEV bus and shuttle routes, EV charging systems

Electrify America and the City of Sacramento announced new projects that will increase access to zero-emissions vehicles (ZEV) in the Sacramento region, expand ZEV technology use, and prepare the City for future electric vehicle adoption. Increase use of ZEV technology to maximize ZEV miles traveled while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

California ARB Seeks Further Reductions of Diesel Emissions at State Rail Yards

The California Air Resources Board directed its staff to take steps to provide further locomotive and rail yard emission reductions beyond those achieved by existing US Environmental Protection Agency and state regulations and agreements. Worldwatch Institute study expects number of countries running high-speed rail nearly to double by 2014

A 2006 study, High Speed Rail and Greenhouse Gas Emissions in the US , released by the Center for Neighborhood Technologies, found that HSR lines in Europe and Japan released 30-70 grams of carbon dioxide per passenger-kilometer, versus 150 grams for automobiles and 170 grams for airplanes. The rise in HSR has been very rapid.
