Honda will further develop its dealer network as more hydrogen fueling stations become available. Honda’s second-generation fuel cell vehicle, the FCX Clarity, launched in July 2008. Honda has deployed fuel cell vehicles in the US, Germany and Japan, including the FCX Clarity, which was named the 2009 World Green Car.

Every once in a while, other media outlets will ask for advice from Green Car Reports on various fuel economy or car technology questions. We recently received one concerning a 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid, which the owner had left unused for several months.

Worldwide Prius sales have been buoyed since 2009 by the introduction in Japan of a government subsidy for green cars that propelled Prius to be the top-selling car in Japan for 17 months in a row. In 2007, sales in Japan represented 21% of all Prius sales worldwide and in 2008, 26%.

Availability begins in Spring 2014 at several Southern California Hyundai dealers. As Equus owners have enjoyed since its introduction in 2010, should a Tucson Fuel Cell require any service, a Hyundai dealer will pick up the vehicle and provide a loaner, then return their car after service to their home or business, at no charge.

The Pontiac brand will be phased out by the end of 2010 and GM will offer a total of 34 nameplates in 2010, down 29 per cent from the 48 available in 2008. A restructure of GM’s dealer organisation with the number of dealers to drop to 3,605 by the end of 2010 - that’s down from 6,246 in 2008. -
