Living in a more polluted area is associated with a greater likelihood of having glaucoma, a debilitating eye condition that can cause blindness, according to a new UCL-led study in the UK. The findings were based on 111,370 participants of the UK Biobank study cohort, who underwent eye tests from 2006 to 2010 at sites across Britain.

New York City Clean Air Taxi rules are successful in cutting emissions and reducing air pollution, [link] to a new study by researchers at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health and Drexel University. They also found these emission reductions were associated with decreases in concentrations of pollutants in the city’s air.

London’s £10 daily “ T-Charge ” (toxicity), aimed at the oldest, most polluting vehicles on London roads, is now in effect. The T Charge applies mainly to diesel and gasoline vehicles registered before 2006. to drive in the zone if a vehicle is affected. The city launched a new ad campaign last week in support of the T-Charge.

On 8 April 2019 the Mayor of London launched the ULEZ in central London. Vehicles must meet strict emission standards to drive in the ULEZ area: Euro 4 for gasoline cars and vans (widely available since 2006). The ULEZ has already helped to reduce roadside pollution levels by 44% in central London and 20% in inner London.
