Ocean Energy Systems (OES) is the short name for the Technology Collaboration Programme on Ocean Energy Systems, an intergovernmental collaboration between countries founded in 2001 which operates under a framework established by the International Energy Agency (IEA) in Paris. The test site has five berths, with a total capacity of 5 MW.

Last month, I completed my GRID Alternatives volunteer training in San Diego and this Monday and Tuesday I’ll be in El Cajon, California as one of the volunteers installing a solar PV system on a new Habitat for Humanity home. The EPN has been around since 2001 and to be honest, I should have gotten involved with them a long time ago.

Of these patent applications, Japanese applicants filed more applications than applicants in any other region, accounting for 6,869 (76 percent) in 1995 to 2000 and 11,553 (69 percent) in 2001 to 2006.
