BMW Group Thailand has inaugurated local high-voltage battery production plant in partnership with the DRÄXLMAIER Group, one of the world’s leading automotive suppliers and a partner of BMW Group since 1966. BMW Group Thailand launched the local assembly lines in July 2019 at the DRÄXLMAIER Group plant.

SVOLT held a groundbreaking ceremony for its EV battery factory in Sri Racha, Thailand. One line at the Sri Racha plant is dedicated to the production of modules for hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), while the second line is designed to produce modules and packs for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and battery electric vehicles (BEVs).

Mercedes-Benz Cars has opened a factory for plug-in hybrid (PHEV) batteries in the Bangkok region in Thailand. In doing so, the partners are responding to the high demand for electric mobility and, in particular, for plug-in hybrid vehicles in Thailand. Interestingly, BYD’s all-electric vehicles are beginning to outpace its plug-in hybrids (PHEVs). BYD’s PHEV sales were up 21% to 95,715 last month. The EV leader is already taking market share in key markets like Thailand, Brazil, and Columbia. Production was also up significantly, with 114,365 EVs built last month, up 64% YOY.
